was born and raised in Colorado Springs, and grew up surrounded by artists, attending shows and local classes. Her first gallery work was hung at only eleven in a Small Works show. Though she’s largely self taught and did not attend college, she has taken many local classes, including first learning to oil paint in 2017. She has since produced six solo shows and numerous pieces for group shows. Sophia has also been showing art in the co-op True North Art Gallery, downtown Colorado Springs, since March 2024. Her most recent solo show I’m doing pretty good. debuted at Auric Gallery in May 2025, which explores the experience of isolation and unintentionally holding yourself back.

Sophia creates figurative oil paintings, almost exclusively self portraits, on homemade wood panels, as well as smaller watercolors, both in unconventional shapes. She often focuses on themes of body image, mental illness, growing pains, chronic illness, and sexuality. Her paintings are easily recognizable and personal, usually featuring multiple versions of herself in the nude, overlapping to create engaging visual illusions.

While by night Sophia paints, by day she works independently as a local art instructor. She teaches at a local community art school, leads paint and sips, offers private lessons, guest teaches set design at Coronado High School, and takes commissions. If you asked her what her job is, Sophia would tell you “I have a million jobs”.
